Katherine Outback Wedding

When Annabel first contacted me about her upcoming wedding, she emailed ‘we’re currently looking into photographers for our wedding at our property just 7km’s out of Katherine, NT’ and I immediately had visions of an Outback wedding similar to Tara & Jason’s fantastic wedding at Loves Creek. This is exactly the kind of wedding I love to photograph, and I was so happy to be available on Annabel and Tom’s wedding date!

I caught up with them on the property during a trip up to Darwin a few weeks before the big day, and was blown away by their gorgeously outback property and wedding venue, Katherine Outback Experience. On a tour around the property I was greeted by a very friendly and vocal donkey named Poppy, as Tom told me about their plans to have their horses in the wedding photos. How much happier can a wedding photographer be – I love animals so this was just sounding better and better!

I travelled up to Katherine a few days before the wedding so I could scope out my favourite locations for photos, and enjoy a bit of the Northern NT sunshine and perfect weather (as it was the middle of winter down here in Alice!). The weather on the day was unbeatable – a slightly balmy, sunny Katherine day. My day began photographing Annabel and he bridesmaids as she started getting ready at home. This was about the time I met Tom’s kids Charlie and Tilly, who were totally adorable and so much fun, just check out the pictures of them below!

Annabel and Tom opted for a first look, which meant we got to capture most of their photos before the ceremony, which allowed for a really relaxed cocktail hour with guests mingling under the leafy trees and listening to the smooth tunes of Harry Hookey. Once the reception started there was so much fun to be had! Hilarious and touching speeches, followed by fireworks and lots of dancing – led by Charlie and Tilly doing ‘The Floss’!

Such an incredible day that I was stoked to be a part of. I just love Outback weddings!
