Barry’s Pet Session
Earlier this year, I responded to a message for a pet session request for a beautiful pooch named Barry. This wasn’t just any ordinary pet session however… Barry was sick, and his Mum Pauline had to make the heart wrenching decision to put Barry to sleep when his illness progressed and he was in too much pain. Pauline had often thought of booking a photo session for Barry but, life gets in the way and it just hadn’t happened yet. So now was the chance.
I met Barry on a Sunday afternoon. Straight away I knew I was going to love photographing those big chocolate eyes and that gorgeous brindle coat! Barry had stacks of character, but was a gentle giant (except when it came to his toys!) Barry loved his squeaky and chew toys SO much, I was in fits of laughter watching him play and trying to take his squeaky pig away long enough to have him pose for me! After taking a few snaps of Barry on his own I had Pauline join in, where it was clear to see her connection with Barry. I knew these were special photos that were going to be treasured forever, so made sure to get plenty of Pauline with her fur baby.
Sessions with elderly or sick pets are never easy, but it’s always such an honour to be able to capture these moments to live on long after our pets have gone. Barry passed over the rainbow bridge on the 21st of May, just a week after his session. It was a real pleasure to have been able to meet him and capture these photos for his Mum.
Pauline had some lovely words to say after our session:
“I would highly recommend Lisa. She went above and beyond with our pet photo session. Lisa is professional, kind, accommodating and has a heart of gold. All her care and consideration really shows in the stunning photos. If you have ever thought about having a professional photographer taking your family photos or pet photos – do it. Lisa will not disappoint and it will be memories you will forever cherish, like we are now. Lisa was so accommodating and did our session last minute. I could not have wished for more.”
Thank you Pauline for choosing me to capture these images of you and Barry.
